Why Storytelling Belongs in Survivorship

How writing, audio, art, poetry, and public installations can carry memory, agency, connection, and community knowledge.

A story is more than a timeline

Medical records organize diagnoses, treatments, and results. A personal story can hold sensory memory, identity, family, fear, humor, faith, anger, beauty, interruption, and return. Both forms of knowledge matter for different reasons.

Atrielle welcomes writing, poetry, art, audio, video, music, and journal reflection because some experiences arrive more truthfully through image, rhythm, or silence than through conventional narrative.

Consent determines the destination

Private creation, small-group sharing, research participation, online publication, campaign use, and permanent public installation are different levels of exposure. Each deserves distinct, affirmative permission.

A contributor should understand where work may appear, whether a name or alias is used, how long permission lasts, and how withdrawal requests are handled within legal and practical limits.

Public memory can become a meeting place

The Atrielle Heart sculpture imagines light, engraved marks, linked stories, flowers, and a reflection bench as a shared civic encounter. The installation turns survivorship from an isolated narrative into a landscape of many voices.

Still I Beat carries the same principle through gathering, sound, testimony, and collective recognition.

Questions people ask

Frequently asked questions

Must a survivor share a story to participate in Atrielle?

No. Story contribution is voluntary, and people may engage through education, wellbeing, care pathways, partnership, or quiet reflection.

Can someone use an alias?

A program may offer named, attributed, anonymous, or alias-based participation when the relevant consent and operational process support it.

Who owns contributed creative work?

Ownership and permissions should be stated clearly. Atrielle terms require contributors to control their submissions and public display to follow affirmative permission.
